If we are now likely to want to reduce the environmental and social impact of our consumption practices, only a minority of us manages to turn these intentions into action in everyday life.

This discrepancy is due to economic barriers, social and informational importance of lifting as we now know that technical progress is not sufficient to meet the ecological and social challenges.

Public policies encouraging the development of a range of sustainable goods and services face the phenomenon of "rebound effect" as households increase in response to the quantities they consume.

A dedicated policy, now taking into account changes in our behavior should be ambitious to be facing the central role of consumption in our society.

Therefore, how can public policies guiding consumption patterns in 2030? Where to place the balance between "eat better" and "consume less"?

Commissioned by the Government, the report of the working group chaired by Elisabeth Laville, presents 25 recommendations to disseminate fully reflexes sustainable consumption within French society.
