Report: "The new mobilities. Adapter automotive lifestyles of tomorrow"

29/11/10

Vincent Chriqui, Director of the Centre d’analyse stratégique and Olivier Paul-Dubois-Taine, Chairman of the Working Group, Honorary Engineer of the Highways made public Tuesday, November 30, 2010, the report "The new mobilities. Adapt automotive lifestyle of tomorrow. "

New mobilities Adapter automotive lifestyles of tomorrow

Long a symbol of freedom and social success, the car appears in a few years, having deserted the imagination of the younger generation - even to the point that its possession would no longer be a priority now and would correspond to a notion of pleasure lost. And in Tokyo, only 25% of 20/30 years said they wanted to own a car in 2007 while they were still 50% in 2000! In 2009, 79% of Europeans and 62% of French people believed that owning a car became a constraint.

Face multiple challenges (climate change, rising prices of energy, social equity, etc..), We must rethink the role of the automobile in our society. This is to invent new forms of mobility and find the dimensions of freedom and pleasure to be associated with our movement. Beyond the necessary development of public transport, we must now promote the small, lightweight vehicles (two, three or four wheels), electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids, whose share, however, should not exceed 10% to 15% of sales in 2020, shared the car, the rediscovery of the bicycle (with electric assist if needed), the real-time information of the user.
