Les acteurs de la chaîne du livre à l’ère du numérique

Press invitation - The actors of the book chain in the digital age

19/03/12

For the 32nd Book Fair

Vincent Chriqui, Director of the Centre d'analyse stratégique, will present three policy briefs and proposals on:

The actors of the book chain in the digital age (authors, publishers, libraries)

Monday, March 19th 2012 at 11 a.m.

Centre d’analyse stratégique, 18 rue de Martignac, 75007 Paris

The digital book will challenge the traditional book chain and its actors. This will affect both the book production (creation and editing) and the book distribution (bookstores and libraries).

Although the digital book has yet to take off in France, it will gradually grow into the mass market similar to that in the United States or Great Britain. Each of the actors in the book chain must therefore take the measures necessary for the ongoing transformation to better anticipate its consequences on the book business and on reading habits.

To identify ways to develop the digital book in France while preserving the value of the book chain and the diversity of French publication, the Centre d’analyse stratégique, in partnership with the National Book Centre, published a series of 3 policy briefs with proposals, each focusing on one of the players in the book chain:

  • authors and publishers
  • bookstores
  • public libraries

These three policy briefs will be presented at the seminar " The French book facing the digital challenge" to be held on Monday, March 19th from 2:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Book Fair (NLC Stand N84).
