Watch the debate

Growing demand, proliferation of innovations and new services, scale changes, development of new high-speed infrastructures: everything indicates that in terms of information technology, we are currently at the beginning of a changing age. This book aims to explore the issues this age is faced with and considers solutions so that French and Europeans can both contribute to and benefit from the advances in the digital economy. Facing not only the United States but also Asia, Europe must work twice as hard. Our expertise in advanced technology gives us a competitive advantage. Our domestic market can serve as support and the global demand is far from saturated. Everything is still possible.

Didier Lombard, author of the Global Digital Village, was the president of “France Telecom”. A graduate of Ecole Polytechnique, he was a researcher at CNET (Centre National d'Etudes des Télécommunications) at the beginning of his career and was part of the effort to put in place the first satellites and create the famous French GSM standard for radio. He was also responsible for “Industrial Strategy” at the Ministry of Economy.
